Update #8

Since last time I've sent the newsletter, I've managed to do some very important work.

  • I haven't realised that the performance has been drastically reduced for those with a couple of hundred tracked manga series (and that's a bunch of you). In case you are one of the lucky ones and it was hard to use, this issue is now gone due to the addition of pagination. I display 50 series per page and the app should behave smoother for everyone. Unfortunately its the limitation of the framework I am using, but they are working on improvements, so I might increase the series per page when they introduce new optimisations.

  • Now that there is pagination, to make it easier for those of you with big lists, I've also added searching by title.

  • I've added a small quality of life improvement: Manga with newly released chapters is now ordered by latest released. So you will get the newest unread chapters at the top of the list by default.

I am happier with performance now (but please do let me know if you still have any issues, as in the big list example, I was completely unaware of how severe the issue was), I will be releasing the MangaDex MDList import this weekend, as I know some of you have quite big lists over there.

While I am going to be waiting on more poll answers, I plan to start preparing for the next manga source to be added. There is a bit more groundwork needed, but otherwise, I expect to be able to add 1 or 2 by the end of next week if all goes to plan. If you want to see the source you want to be implemented first, please make sure to vote on the poll as I will be picking the top 3 as the ones I'll be working on next.

The initial poll results also strongly indicate everyone is happy with me releasing these newsletters as soon as I add new features, so I will continue to do so.

But for now, back to coding. See you in another one of these soon enough 👋🏻
