Smart Suggestions v2 almost finished, with new suggestion types and more
This month is all about smart suggestions - the system has been vastly improved in what I call Smart Suggestions v2, allowing for much better control over suggestions and being able to roll out more suggestions types.

📋Changelog✨Smart Suggestions v2
The new suggestion system is not quite yet here -> due to being busier than usual, I didn't have enough time to finish this functionality. It's currently in testing with Premium members and I am hoping to make it public in a week or two after all the issues have been resolved.
Nevertheless, let me walk you through what has changed and all the new features that come with this feature.
Suggestions can be ignored
The most requested feature for smart suggestions is here -> you can now ignore smart suggestions, for example, if you don't want to switch to another site. Currently, it's quite a basic system, where you can simply ignore a suggestion until a newer one comes along.
In the future, I will provide more control over this -> with the ability to completely ignore particular sites and more, depending on the suggestion type.
Faster list loading
This wasn't a primary focus, but a nice side-effect of the new architecture is that fetching and generating suggestions is a lot faster now. While most of you shouldn't have experienced any issues with fetching suggestions, it's always nice to have an improvement in performance!
New suggestion types
Most importantly, I am going to be rolling out new Smart Suggestions. The most important one, as mentioned before -> is notifying of series that have been removed from Kenmei, either due to them being blacklisted or no sites supporting the series anymore.
You will be able to not only see it on a per series basis -> but a new bulk edit mode will be added, so you can easily export all series that have been completely removed (such as recent Webtoon Canvas removal) as well as switch all series to better sources.
Shortly after, I will also be releasing site offline suggestions, allowing you to quickly swap series from one site to another while it's offline.
⛔Series Blacklisting
This is a feature for me and future data moderators, but an extremely important one - making it possible to properly blacklist series on Kenmei, unlike a workaround I used previously. This is a crucial feature for a couple of reasons:
Required to completely remove old series added to Kenmei that never should have been added to begin with
Makes series suggestion moderation easier, to stop people from constantly re-suggesting series that have been rejected
Long-term it will make automatic new series detection on all sites possible, including MangaDex and official sources, which would eliminate the need for suggesting new series almost entirely
While it's still not ready for the public, this work has been helping me define better guidelines for what is and isn't allowed on Kenmei. I am hoping to make said rules public by the end of the year.
📈Progress Overview
While I didn't get to release a ton of features this month, I've continued to work on what must be finished to make Discovery public by the end of the year. With Smart Suggestions v2 and blacklisting, I am finally able to start a mass purge of the series on Kenmei, so when Discovery goes public, everything will be in the best possible shape.
After that work is done and while I am working on data improvements, I am going to again focus on Discovery and Advanced Search -> there are still improvements to be made before the public launch, such as improvements to speed as well as adding the ability to filter by genres and more.
