New settings page, UI improvements, manga source updates and more

Welcome to the second monthly update. As mentioned in the last update, this is a new update format, where I talk about my progress for the past month and plans for the next one. But sometimes, when big updates are released, there will also be Deep Dives into the functionality. This month is like that, so you can check out here:

For the rest of the overall updates this month, keep reading!

Source updates

I deliberately haven't been working on adding new sources much, as I wanted to focus on other tasks. But I found time to do some changes:

  • KKJ Scans And No Name Scans have been added.

  • One Shot Scans have officially closed down and are not supported anymore.

I will probably add some more in June, depending on the workload. I personally want to finally look at WebToons and MerakiScans

New additions outside of main work

As mentioned before, I usually end up doing various work outside the main list of bigger features, which could be supplementing that work or be something completely different. So here is the overview of small, but nice improvements I've done outside main work.

One of the biggest changes is the update layout and style. This is close to final version of the light theme. Dark theme is also in development now

Updated bulk actions buttons, which match the new UI style I am going for and will most probably remain final for a long time.

Updated the announcement banner, now with ability to dismiss it

There are a few more improvements, you can find the rest in the changelog

Progress Overview

Yet again, here is the overview of the progress on the list of mail features I concentrated on:

  1. Ability to set reading status for manga entries (Reading, On-hold, etc)100% Complete

  2. Ability to set tags (Manga lists will become tags instead) → 60% Complete

  3. Ability to choose title type globally (English or Romaji) → 0% Complete

  4. Filtering → 90% Complete

  5. Adding basic user settings page100% Complete

  6. Improving data consistency in the database → 70% Complete

I am not super happy with the speed of development, as I hoped to be done with everything by the end of the month, but that ended up not being the case. Partly because of complexity of features, partly because of other issues coming up and partly due to the usual Corona virus impact on everyday life.

I will continue working on the features above, which I should be able to finish by mid June. I will present the next list of big features I'll be working on in the next update.

Thanks for reading and till next time!
