Update #12

Cross-site tracking support (9 sites in total), updated UI, bugfixes and speed improvements, in the biggest update to date

Thanks, everyone for your patience and welcome to the biggest update to date. I have spent close to 3 months on this, because I really wanted to get it right and I am very happy where I got. This marks a big moment for Kenmei! The change log is big, so I am not going to mention everything here, so do check out everything that has been added by following the link below. There is also a video showcasing all the new changes at the end of this update.

📋Changelog

I will concentrate on the most important work that has been done: moving from tracking just MangaDex to being a cross-site tracker, as always promised. With this update, there are now 8 new sites that you can track, which are all updated hourly. There is now a new page, where you'll see supported sites, those that have been requested and ones I am currently working on. I'll continue to mention new sites supported in the updates going forward, but that page will be the first one to update, so keep an eye on it. I plan to eventually make it show addition information, for example if site is down, making it even more useful.

When importing using Trackr.moe, you will now see a breakdown of sites that got imported, including urls for the failed ones. When entries fail, it's usually because the URLs changed or they were removed completely. You'll have to double check yourself. In case that URLs are indeed correct, please do contact me to investigate

Now, if you are coming from Trackr.moe, you are used to seeing a single table row for each site of the same manga title. Kenmei is going to work differently (and I hope better). You will always have a single manga series shown, for the manga source you've selected. So even if you tracking across 5 sources, you'll always see 1 at any given moment. If you are personally tracking more than one, it will be shown underneath the title, like so:

You will be able to select which source you want to track at any given moment, while your reading progress will be saved per each site. If you head to edit, you'll be able to select from sites that have the manga you are editing:

I plan to add various improvements to this design. For example, Kenmei will be able to tell you if another source has a new chapter, so you can quickly switch to read that if you want. I think this is a much easier way to track manga, but do let me know what you think, as anything is subject to change, if there is a better alternative.

While I try to correctly map manga from different sites, it's something that has room for improvement and I can get it wrong sometimes. If that happens, there is a way to report it. When you select more than one manga in your list, you can select new Duplicated Manga Series report type, to send me an email to investigate. I expect this issue to almost never happen in the future, but it's not an easy task with tens of thousands of manga entries tracked.

Final thing I'd mention, is the updated deletion process. If you are trying to delete manga entries, that have multiple sites tracked, I will show a confirmation modal, asking you to confirm the deletion. Unless you want to delete all progress, you should be instead using Edit functionality to switch to a different source. This new modal also uses the new design, that I will be rolling out in the coming weeks!

There are a lot of changes (as you'd expect from 3 months of development), so to help you make sense of it all better, I recorded a video showcasing all the changes, that you can watch. Sorry for a non professional setup and me rumbling, but I hope this gives you better idea of how it all works!
